We can help you deliver your own SHE management and improvement requirements by providing the following services:

  • High-level external audits on your Safety, Health & Environment systems by competent auditors to give you an independent view of your SHE management systems, which are benchmarked against statutory requirements and industry good practice as well as your own company standard.
  • Training packages and support across a wide range of SHE issues, ranging from safe systems of work to specialist topics such as pressure systems.
  • Experienced safety management resource to support manufacturing or project activities, for example, a designated shutdown safety supervisor.
  • Consultancy advises and appropriate assistance with SHE improvement initiatives. Examples include updating safe systems of work, improving compliance with PUWER legislation and bunding and drainage improvements.

We have a significant capability, extensive experience, an excellent pedigree and the benefit of seeing a wide cross-section of the client and other contractors SHE management systems in action. We come from a manufacturing background and work across a variety of industries, which gives us a significant skill set to be able to provide you with practical and results orientated guidance.

Hazard Studies and Classification

The Health & Safety Executive places duties on operators of chemical processing, manufacturing and storage sites under numerous pieces of legislation. Key statutory instruments with which Addison Project gets involved on behalf of, or working with, clients are:

  • the Control of Major Accident Hazards Regulations 2015 (COMAH)
  • the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH)
  • the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM)
  • the Dangerous Substances & Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002 (DSEAR)

Interaction also commonly takes place with the Environment Agency in relation to the Pollution Prevention and Control (England & Wales) Regulations 2000.

Addison Project has a number of skilled and experienced hazard study leaders who can deal with all your hazard and operability requirements. We can lead your HAZOP studies and also provide technical personnel who can participate as team members in hazard studies.

Through a consultancy alliance, we can also provide high levels of expertise to help clients deal with the myriad of highly specialised health, safety and environmental legislative topics, for example, DSEAR compliance, Major Accident Hazard (MAH) consequence modelling, Major Accident To The Environment (MATTE) reviews, occupied buildings risk assessments and human factors analysis.

Just some of the services we can provide include:

  • High level audits on your SHE systems by competent auditors to give you an independent view of your SHE management systems, benchmarked against statutory requirements, industry good practice and your own company standards.
  • Training packages and support across a wide range of SHE issues ranging from safe systems of work to specialist topics, including pressure systems.
  • The provision of a dedicated experienced shutdown safety supervisor to support manufacturing or project activities.
  • Consultancy advises and assistance with SHE improvement initiatives, including guidance with sub-contractor safety performance.

Sub-contractor Safety Performance

Sub-contractor safety performance is an area where we can propose an improvement strategy and implement with the client. For example, this would address safety performance, KPI’s, Method Statement and Risk Assessment standards, induction and briefing processes, communications etc. We have a good track record in managing and improving this key area.

PUWER – Surveys

One of the fundamental requirements of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1999 (PUWER) is to carry out a detailed risk assessment of all equipment used in the workplace. The regulations apply to all places of work and require risk assessments of work equipment, from hand tools and production lines to manual valves and large reactor or furnaces, are carried out. They also apply to those in control of work equipment, such as employers, the self-employed and employees when using their own tools.Addison Project can review your current status regarding compliance and help with any corrective action required, particularly where further risk assessment is required and additional control measures or modifications may be required to reduce any risks to acceptable levels. We can also offer practical advice on optimising your existing resources to comply with the requirements of the legislation, using generic assessments and also utilising our risk assessment database. The auditing process can be tailored to suit the individual needs of your business and target areas of concern, such as new legislation, specific functional areas, including electrical safety, distribution systems, lifting operations, civil maintenance of structures or underground services, safety review processes, pressure systems, hazard identification and documentation.Alternatively, we can carry out an ‘overview audit’ of all key engineering aspects of your manufacturing processes. The output of an audit will offer a number of benefits including assurance, identification of non-compliance and opportunities for improvement, plus formal objective evidence of an independent assessment of the fitness for purpose of the key engineering aspects of your business.
