The Role 

Addison Precision is recruiting for an experienced and driven Production Manager to lead our CNC machining operations in a high-precision, aerospace-focused subcontract manufacturing environment.  This is a permanent staff opportunity where you will report directly into the Managing Director and help shape the future and success of the business. 

This is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of production, driving operational efficiency, maintaining rigorous quality standards, and ensuring customer satisfaction in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

Production Leadership: 

Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the CNC machining shop floor. Overseeing a team of CNC machinists, programmers, inspectors, and support staff you will drive a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and safety. 

Planning & Scheduling: 

Collaborate with planning and sales to schedule jobs in line with customer delivery expectations and internal capacity. You will manage production workloads, shift planning, and resource allocation for maximum output and minimal downtime. 

Operational Efficiency: 

Implement lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste and reduce lead times. Monitor KPIs (OEE, on-time delivery, scrap rates, downtime) and drive performance improvements and lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for production and quality issues. 

Quality & Compliance: 

You will ensure strict adherence to AS9100/ISO 9001 standards and customer-specific requirements whilst supporting audits to ensure full traceability of parts throughout production.  Collaboration with the Quality Manager is key to ensure compliance standards are achieved. 

Ensure all production activities comply with HSE regulations and internal safety standards and coordinate machine maintenance schedules to minimise disruption and extend asset life 

Technical Oversight: 

Working with engineering and programming teams you will review new jobs for manufacturability and approve tooling strategies, setups, and machining processes for complex components whilst providing shop floor support for complex or first-off jobs. 

Team Development: 

Create a positive and productive environment throughout the business. Recruit, train, and mentor team members to ensure a high-skill, high-performance workforce whilst supporting the established Apprenticeship scheme. You will be responsible for conducting regular performance reviews, setting clear goals and development plans. 

About You. 

A proven experienced Production Manager or Senior Supervisor within a UK CNC precision machining environment. You will have a thorough demonstrable understanding of aerospace quality standards, modern CNC machining processes, and a proven track record of managing teams to deliver right-first-time results on time and within budget. 

Skills and Experience Required 

  • UK Aerospace industry background is essential, with strong knowledge of AS9100 and aerospace part production. 
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills. 
  • Strong understanding of CNC milling, turning, 5-axis machining, and tight tolerance work. 
  • Proficient in production planning systems (ERP/MRP) and shop floor control tools. 
  • Hands-on, solution-focused approach with strong problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong communication and coordination abilities across departments. 
  • Desirable Experience: 
  • Experienced in a high precision UK aerospace manufacturing environment working with the latest in CNC machine technology across multiple industry sectors and disciplines 
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM systems and CNC programming principles. 
  • Background in New Product Introduction (NPI) and prototype-to-production transitions. 
  • Lean Six Sigma certification or demonstrable lean implementation success.
