The United Kingdom’s multi-million pound recycling sector covers many areas, from simple waste management, through polymer recycling, energy-from-waste right across to solvent recovery. Our Chemical sector experience comes into it’s own, as many of the processes involved in manufacturing can be re-purposed to ensure we can break down and reuse the materials that once were bound for landfill at best.
It is not that long ago that almost everything we produced headed for landfill at the end of it’s useful, often short-lived, life. The recyclability of a material depends on its ability to reacquire the properties it had in its original state. Over recent years, we have been able to use our process and engineering capabilities to play a leading role supporting clients to develop solutions for recovery rather than destruction.
Amongst these successes have been the design and build of solvent recovery facilities, whereby waste material from manufacturing processes are reconstituted and cleaned for reuse. Polymers and plastics are also on that list, as there is now the ability to both mechanically and chemically breakdown the products into a state where they can be remanufactured. We anticipate a huge acceleration in this field in coming years, and have placed ourselves in a leading position to assist clients.
