Addison has reinforced its commitment to sustainability and responsible business by joining the Sustainable Energy Consortium (SEC), a renewable energy initiative delivered by Sustainable Energy First (SE First).
Through participation in the SEC, all the Addison businesses now benefits from electricity supplied from 100% renewable, fully traceable energy sources, supporting the company’s ongoing efforts to reduce its operational carbon footprint while increasing transparency around energy procurement. This milestone aligns with Addison Project’s wider sustainability strategy and long-term ambition to help drive the UK’s transition towards a Net Zero future.
As a leading EPCM engineering and project management consultancy, Addison Project works with clients across the energy, process, manufacturing, infrastructure and sustainable technologies sectors and Addison Engineering and Addison Precision also have a cross sector of clients. Sustainability is embedded throughout the businesses, from internal operations and supply chain management through to the projects it supports and delivers. Joining the SEC further strengthens this commitment by ensuring the electricity used across its operations is sourced from genuine renewable generation assets.
The Sustainable Energy Consortium provides an innovative alternative to traditional green tariffs and complex Corporate Power Purchase Agreements (CPPAs). Through a diversified portfolio of more than 100 UK wind, solar and hydro generation assets, the Consortium connects renewable energy producers directly with organisations committed to reducing emissions and increasing energy resilience.
Unlike conventional renewable electricity products, the SEC utilises a transparent half-hourly matching model, allowing participants to demonstrate a direct and credible link between their electricity consumption and renewable generation. The model also includes a capped-price structure, providing greater protection from wholesale market volatility and supporting long-term budgeting and business planning.
By joining the Consortium, Addison group becomes part of a wider community of organisations working collaboratively to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy and support meaningful market-based Scope 2 emissions reductions.
Commenting on the announcement, a spokesperson for Addison said:
“Sustainability is not a box-ticking exercise for us; it is something we actively embed into the way we operate and the projects we support. Joining the Sustainable Energy Consortium is another positive step forward in our sustainability journey, providing access to genuine, traceable renewable electricity while supporting our wider environmental commitments.
We are proud to work alongside clients who are striving to reduce emissions, improve efficiency and deliver more sustainable outcomes. This partnership complements our broader ambitions to reduce our own environmental impact whilst helping to pioneer a more sustainable future across the industries we serve.”
Addison group have already implemented a range of sustainability initiatives, including renewable energy investments, electric vehicles, solar installations, annual carbon reduction planning and the publication of sustainability impact reporting. The SEC partnership further supports these efforts and strengthens the company’s commitment to achieving its long-term sustainability objectives.
