We’re delighted to see the Criggion Hydrogen Project receive the Sustainability Innovation of the Year Award at the 2026 Highways Awards. The project has been recognised for demonstrating the successful use of hydrogen to decarbonise asphalt production at an industrial scale, marking a significant milestone for both the highways sector and the UK’s journey to net zero.
Addison Project was proud to play a key role in bringing this pioneering project to life, delivering the engineering design, project management and construction of the hydrogen plant. Working alongside Heidelberg Materials and the wider project team, we helped develop and deliver the infrastructure required to enable the successful use of hydrogen as an alternative fuel source for asphalt production.
The project showcases Addison’s ability to support complex industrial decarbonisation projects from concept through to operational delivery. Our multidisciplinary teams provide engineering design, project management, construction management, process safety and specialist engineering services across the energy, manufacturing, chemicals and infrastructure sectors.
As organisations continue to explore hydrogen, alternative fuels and other low-carbon technologies, Addison Project is well placed to support every stage of the project lifecycle, from feasibility studies and front-end engineering through to detailed design, project delivery and commissioning.

Congratulations to Heidelberg Materials and everyone involved in this fantastic achievement. Read about the awards here Highways Awards 2026 Winners.
If you’re considering a hydrogen, decarbonisation or energy transition project, we’d be delighted to discuss how Addison Project can help turn your plans into reality.
