We are seeking a Group Heath and Safety Manager to join us on a permanent staff basis. In this role you will have responsibility for steering SHE throughout the business and you can be based in either our Daresbury or Thornton-Cleveleys offices.
Job Description
We are looking for a SHE Manager to steer SHE across Addison, setting strategy and managing performance throughout the Addison Group (Addison Project, Addison Engineering and Addison Precision) Covering our offices and sites, you will ensure compliance with all SHE statutory legislation, accredited processes and all contract specific SHE requirements. You will help drive our culture of continual improvement, focused on achieving zero-harm at all levels.
In this role you will be office based but also hands on and site based on North West projects for Addison Project, when the need arises. This is a role offering variety and a key role in our management team. You will have the full support of the Directors and management team and ensure we continue our successful SHE journey.
- Overall responsibility for coordinating the safety, health and environmental management for all businesses.
- Ensure the Company meets its statutory obligations in all areas of Health & Safety including fire safety, risk assessments, safe systems of work, & monitoring.
- Assist the Directors in developing a strategy and promoting a culture of continuous improvement, on matters relating to safety, health and the environment.
- Review and where necessary, develop systems, KPI’s procedures, controls and monitoring standards to maintain legal compliance and to further promote the safety, health and environment.
- Ensure the H&S strategy is translated and adequate provisions are made for communicating and training employees on health and safety matters.
- Ensure that all Managers and employees are made aware of their responsibilities under current legislation.
- Complete major investigations and approve ALL accident investigations/incidents completed by Project Health & Safety Managers.
- Act as company liaison officer for all communications to the HSE including The Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013 (RIDDOR).
- Take the lead in organising project safety awareness campaigns
- Measurement and reporting of trends/statistics.
- Consult and agree with the Managing Director annual SHE objectives, new legislative requirements, good practice and measures required to ensure compliance with current safety, health and environmental standards.
- Where the need arises take a hands on site based H&S Manager role on client sites to drive forward all SHE requirements and duties.
Person Specification
A Construction bias SHE Manager, you will be looking to progress your career leading our SHE department. A role you can make your own, grow and develop and one where your ideas can be made reality.
- Demonstrable SHE Management experience in the UK Onshore Process Sector.
- Ideally you will have experience as a SHE Manager and Construction Manager, within the petrochemical / manufacturing sector, prior to moving into a senior SHE Management role.
- Experience fulfilling the role of CDM/Principal Designer as defined by the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and providing CDM advice and guidance to Clients/Designers within a Principal Contractor role.
- Ideally holding a Graduate Membership of the Institution of Safety and Health (CMIOSH) with NEBOSH a minimum qualification.
- Up to date knowledge of Health & Safety Legislation
- Ability to travel to our offices and sites throughout the UK
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite of programs
- Excellent organisational skill
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report writing and delivering safety training
- Strong analytical skills for conducting root cause analysis and identifying trends in safety data – Attention to detail to ensure accurate recordkeeping and compliance with regulations
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
