Key Structural Design deliverables ensure plant integrity maintained

Does your plant meet requirements?

The Historical Context

Addison has a long history of working to improve legacy PetroChemical sites. Normally this revolves around processes, debottlenecking, changeovers and similar operational requirements. However, whilst the process plant is often modernised, it is not unusual for some of our client sites to have a history and structural infrastructure going back four or five decades. This often results in some challenging situations, particularly when you need to make changes.

Given our first hand knowledge of many sites, it has come as no surprise to our engineering teams that we are seeing an increase in demand for surveys and remedial work, beyond that which is the operational norm.

We therefore wanted to share some images of what we’re finding, and how we can help with the remediation that is required.

Mitigate your Operational Risk

It goes without saying that not every site has issues such as those shown. Inspection regimes vary massively, and often issues are fixed before they impact operationally. However, it’s also true that, with operational costs being high, it’s not unusual to find that, unless it becomes a safety issue, out of sight can quickly become ‘out-of-mind’.

The images seen here show problems that only came to light when we began to look at improvements to other areas of this particular site. It became clear that there was a much wider issue, and we were then tasked with surveying much of the site to determine the scale of the requirement.
