Medically speaking…

You may already know about the work we did during the #VentilatorChallenge, reacting quickly to new design requirements, going through a rapid prototyping process and into production whilst under client pressure and with a government under huge media scrutiny.

How were we able to react like that? Safety and quality are non-negotiable in the medical devices industry. This is neatly defined in the scope of ISO 13485, specific to this field and something that we thought would be a key accreditation for the business even before the arrival of SARS-COV-2 gave us the opportunity to change direction away from aerospace engine bearings and onto potential life-saving devices. This internationally agreed standard sets out the requirements for a quality management system specific to the industry, ensuring that the supply chain can have absolute confidence.

Although this was far from our first foray into the medical sector, as mentioned, it was probably our highest pressure project in the sector to date and we came through with flying colours. Addison Precision are therefore keen to announce today that we have just achieved the standard required to retain ISO13485 accreditation, showing our strength in this area.
