Due to COVID we have been behind the curve in recruiting new apprentices, but we’ve made up for it in the last 18 months, taking on five new trainees.
We often hear of business leaders complaining about skills shortages and young people not being interested in hands on technical and STEM related industries, but that certainly hasn’t been our experience at Precision.
Over the past 12 months we’ve proactively engaged with the local schools and colleges in and around the local area here on the Fylde Coast. From careers fairs to factory tours and open days we have been encouraged by the amount of young people wanting to engage in engineering related careers.
During this period, we have also been impressed by the services and facilities our local colleges are now providing in-line with engineering subjects. We’ve actively engaged with some of our local colleges, B&FC and Burnley college to name but two. They have invested hugely in the latest machine tool and robotic technology which would rival any manufacturing facility.
Addison Precision has a bright future in closing the skills gap when we keep employing dedicated talented young personnel like we have today.
