We are looking for a Project Engineer to support our exciting projects in the North West. This role can be based in either our Thornton-Cleveleys office or our Daresbury office, however the successful candidate will need to travel to the Thornton-Cleveleys office weekly to complete the duties of the role.
The Role
The overall purpose of the role is to co-ordinate procurement and site activities on a project and provide update reports to the Project Manager. Also, for smaller less complex projects to take sole ownership and report to the Project Manager.
You will have responsibility for coordinating all project elements including engineering design, quality planning, installation, commissioning and final buy-off phases as well as ensuring the project remains within budget in order to meet the requirements of the customer’s needs. You will work on many phases or sub-tasks of projects or entire projects of moderate complexity, with results impacting on project completion.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans; conferring with management
- Determine project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates.
- Generate technical aspects of equipment and construction work packages for enquiry.
- Co-ordinate the inspection and expediting of equipment items
- Ensure design and procurement activities are authorised and documented in accordance with company procedures.
- Ensure all files, vital drawings and records are updated as required.
- Collect and collate progress information from design groups to update Project Manager.
- Prepare project status reports by collecting, analysing, and summarising information and trends; recommending actions.
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Monitor compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications.
- Perform overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans, personnel’s performance) and report regularly on project status
- Cooperate and communicate effectively with project manager and other project participants to provide assistance and technical support

Person Specification
- Proven working experience as a project engineer; familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards.
- Degree in Engineering or relevant field
- Design Skills, Process Improvement, Technical Understanding, Documentation Skills, Safety Management, Supervision. Project engineering skills with planning & organising capability and attention to detail. Good understanding of customer expectations and deliverables with an awareness of the impact of failure/cost of poor quality
- Possess good PC skills, particularly MS Excel. Also MS Project, Word, Access & AutoCAD an advantage. Ability to work with multiple discipline projects
